The final phase of one of the most prestigious tournaments of the Youngsters category during the Christmas period. The sixth edition of the Powerade Cup will be held on 18, 19 and 20 December in the new head field of UE Cornella.
After an exciting pre-tournament, that was played from 5 till 8 December. 16 Catalan teams (category 10 in 2004 and 6 in 2005) have won the way to the final, now they can all fulfill their sleep.
The 10 teams in Class A (2004) are: Martinenc, AEM Lleida, Reus CF Deportiu, UE Sant Andreu, Gimnastic Tarragona, Lleida Esportiu Sant Gabriel, Jabac Terrace, EF Gavà i Gimnastic Manresa. In the category B (2005) six teams have gotten into the finals are: Atletic Segre, Gimnastic Tarragona, Reus Deportivo CF, Sant Gabriel, Jabac Gimnastic Manresa and Terrassa.
The final phase will complete national premier clubs like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, RCD Espanyol, Sevilla FC, Valencia CF, Villlareal, Real Betis, Malaga CF, RCD Mallorca, RC Celta de Vigo and the host UE Cornellà. Also international clubs Maccabi Haifa of Israel, ST Kevin’s Boy of Dublin and BAA Wanderers Bermuda will participate.
At the highest level
The Bermudian BAA team landed on Monday the 14th of December in Barcelona to prepare an intense week with WOSPAC Teams. Where young players and guests will enjoy not only the daily sports activities such as training, friendly matches or the tournament of the Powerade Cup but also they may touring around the Catalan capital.
The evening after their arrival they must prepare for the exciting matches that await. On Friday at 16: 30h at field 2 they will face, nothing more and nothing less than Real Madrid. And then the yellow team of Villareal.
In the previous edition of the Powerade Cup, the Bermuda team, led by Kenny Thompson, began his participation in the tournament against the champion of the V Powerade: the FC Barcelona of Xavi Simons. That was certainly a great experience for the boys of Bermuda.
A top-level competition that demands the best from each team. Although the boys of BAA have clearly come to enjoy the experience, to know Spanish football and to continue working to improve day after day. All the WOSPAC Teams wish you good luck!
