You could have already heard about the amazing story of Albert Ruiz Plaza, a young, 20 year-old striker from Barcelona, and currently playing for Florida Gulf Coast University in NCAA Division 1 in the United States.He accomplished what most of the young players are just dreaming about; playing in probably the most professional university league in the world, and just one little step away from entering the world of professional football.
How is this possible? 1 and a half years ago, being one of the most valuable players of the Youth team of UE Cornellà, Albert accepted the help of WOSPAC and benefitted from a scholarship valued at 200.000 US dollars that covered 100% of his costs and gave him the opportunity to prove his talent in football and continue his studies in Florida. Since then, after 2 university seasons, he has become an important part of the team of FGCU, being proved by the fact that in 2015 he scored 7 goals in his 11 games, having 2 assists as well!
And this isn’t all. A few days ago, he had the chance to play against the brand new MLS team, New York City FC, facing such superstars as David Villa, Andrea Pirlo or Frank Lampard. Isn’t so bad, is it? They lost 1-0, but it is a great result and a great experience.
We are glad that we could help Albert to live the life what others could just dream about.
